CONGRATULATIONS: We would like to congratulate Glen Andreassen (pictured left above) and Bernardo Ashby (pictured right above) for their outstanding performances in the MAPL 2011 fall finals. Both competitors played an incredible match. Bernardo jumped out to a quick 5-1 lead but in the end Glen would mount an unbelievable come back to tie it up at ten a piece on the hill, going into the final rack of the match. He would go on to win it via a one nine combo that was so intense to watch' you could hear a pin drop in the midst of the club. This match was truly one of a kind.
Our celebrity referee on hand was pro billiard player and instructor Zion Zvi (pictured center above).

MAPL FALL 2011 SCOTCH DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
An emotional Kim McAdams celebrates as she and partner (Kenneth Drayton) took first place in the 2011 fall session of the MAPL scotch doubles event. Team ‘Special K’ (featuring Kim McAdams and Kenneth Drayton) came roaring back from the one loss side to take the victory in the finals against the undefeated ‘WARRIORS’ (featuring Adalberto Nazario and Ambi Estevez). Though the victory was sweet, the journey itself was not an easy one. In the semi finals they had to contend with the defending champs Exotica (featuring Julius Mack and Elaine Nikolakakos) who almost caught them off guard. Exotica was not about to give in just yet. They were the defending champs for a reason and they made sure ‘SPECIAL K’ understood that. In the end however they would fall to the outstanding consistency of ‘SPECIAL K’ and a match later a new champ would be crowned.
In the finals it all came down to one significant play with both teams on the hill. The ‘WARRIORS’ missed on a crucial 8ball shot that could have sealed the deal and ‘SPECIAL K’ took advantage of it. First up was Kim whose only option based on the current layout, was to cross bank the 8ball into the side pocket. It had to be perfect and there was no room for error. She took a deeeeeeeeeeep breath, exhaled and stroked right through the 8ball sending it square into the center of the side pocket and leaving the cue ball in perfect position on the 9ball. Her partner Kenneth then came in and sealed the deal. As a team they were incredible and complemented each other as such |
