The MAPL provides lessons covering almost every major topic in the sport. All of our instructors are patient and methodical. When taking a pool class with Megabucks the value of the work is emphasized upon its delivery. We currently offer two programs that are so exciting, some of our students keep coming back for more.

LESSONS FOR THE BEGINNER PLAYER: This program is for individuals who are fascinated with the sport but don’t actually know how to play it. Some of the topics covered includes:

  • Overview of The Games – 8ball, 9ball, 10ball, 14.1, Pocket and 3 cushion billiards.
  • The Bridge – The open, the closed or contortion (rail bridges).
  • The Grip – The feather grip or the death grip (how to hold the back end of the cue).
  • The Stance – Body alignment (how to stand before making a shot)
  • The Stroke – Following through during a shot.
  • Aiming – The ghost ball theory.
  • Shot Types – Follow, stop, cut and draw.
  • Basic Shot Making – The fundamentals.
  • Addressing the ball and putting it all together.
  • Developing a routine.
  • Game ethics and sportsmanship.

LESSONS FOR THE INTERMEDIATE PLAYER: This program is for those who have been playing for a while and have a full understanding of the basics mentioned in the Beginner Player’s Program above. Some of the topics covered includes:

  • The Importance of Fundamentals.
  • Throw – Cause and effect.
  • Squirt – Cause and effect.
  • Skid – Cause and effect.
  • Curve – Short and long.
  • Masse – How to execute.
  • The Jump Shot – The 45 degree rule.
  • English – Cause and effect and pros vs cons.
  • The 30 degree rule - Natural path of the cue.
  • The 90 degree rule - The tangent line.
  • Kicking – One rail kicking system, two rail kicking system, three rail kicking system.
  • Banking – With and without English.
  • Positions Play – Using follow, stop, draw, stun, English, one rail, two rails, three rails and four rails.
  • Advance aiming techniques – Utilizing the BAT.
  • Combination shots – How to execute.
  • Caroms – Utilizing the 30 and 90 degree rule.
  • Defense – How to play smarter.
  • Pattern Play – How to navigate through your layout.
  • The Break – Power break, cut break and others.
  • The Mental Game – How to prepare, how to win.

The Rates For Private Hourly Lessons

  • $30 for one person.
  • $55 for two people.
  • $80 for three people.
  • $100 for a group of five to ten people.
